We believe that a child is naturally curious and loves to learn. However, formal education can sometimes kill that curiosity. At The Alternative Story, we hope to create an environment where that curiosity is kindled and a child will come to classes loving to learn. In the process, the child does not just learn to achieve high scores but they develop a thirst for knowledge which will follow them through their lives.
In our Regular Lessons, we cover 2 components - Creative Writing and the Paper 2 components such as Comprehension, Synthesis, Editing, Cloze Passages and Grammar. Students will be taught a wide range of techniques in both components.
In these intensive Creative Writing Classes, students are taught techniques such as Plot Development, Building of Tension and Characterisation to tackle the new MOE Syllabus Compositions.
During the June and November/ December Holidays, we want every student to be fully prepared and equipped for the upcoming term. As such, the Holiday Programmes will include both Creative Writing and Paper 2 Components.
The key strength of TAS is in the intangibles. We engage the hearts of children and bring them on a journey of learning.
Every child's primary question is 'WHY?' Our goal is to kindle this curiosity - to develop in them a love for learning that will follow them through their lives.
We teach by principles and not by "what sounds right". We make learning digestible for students by breaking down the concepts into principles.
With the changes in the new school curriculum, TAS continues to be relevant to the new PSLE examination by adopting new teaching methodologies.
In TAS, we go beyond being confined to a 'boxed-in' mindset - students think out of the box... and be as creative as they can be!
Parents play a pivotal role in the development of a child's life. TAS believes in providing support to the parents to accelerate the development of your child.
A must-have guide book to equip your child to love writing. Creative Writing Techniques like the use of metaphorical language will be touched on.
Volume 2 provides full-length compositions of children's work to illustrate two main techniques:
2) Application of phrases.
It aims to inspire children and give them confidence to write excellently.
In this book, you will find a thorough guide to grammar rules and synthesis structures tested in the PSLE English Paper. We've made grammar rules simple so that parents and even primary school students alike can understand and use them!
Subjunctive verbs, tricky tenses, complex synthesis... are you fully ready for the different questions during PSLE? In this practice book, we provide questions that will push students to know their synthesis and grammar better.
This Vocabulary Guide Book provides you with easy and creative solutions to help your child retain knowledge of words and its synonyms. Suitable for students from Primary 5 to 6.
Created to focus on the new PSLE Syllabus, Volume 3 will cover writing techniques such as characterisation and plot development, as well as cover topics that will be in line with the new PSLE Syllabus.
